Content analytics and intelligent video delivery - for immediate detection of exceptions and event management

OnSSI’s IP Video Surveillance platforms provide the high level of event awareness required by correctional facilities looking for a cost effective means to monitor inmates, visitors, structures and assets.

Automated Event Detection

OnSSI’s IP Video Surveillance platforms enable correctional facilities to utilize their existing IP network to deploy more, and more sophisticated cameras, while eliminating the costs and limitations imposed by coaxial cabling, limited-resolution analog cameras, proprietary hardware and limited video delivery options.

However, the influx in the number of cameras in a typical prison has shifted the challenge from acquiring video to extracting meaningful information out of volumes of video content, automatically and cost-effectively.

OnSSI’s NVRs include native Video Motion Detection (VMD), which enables designating specific detection area in the camera view, with adjustable motion sensitivity.

A higher level of automated event detection can be achieved using Advanced Content Analytics modules, integrated within the NetDVMS NVR. Ideal for human behavior detection, these modules can detect directional movement, classify and differentiate between moving objects, detect no-motion (stalled vehicle, unattended package), missing object, night vision motion tracking, group behavior and more.

Once an exception is detected, it can trigger varous alarms and alerts, and video of the event can be automatically pushed to users as video pop-ups, for instant, video-assisted response and event management.

Complete Integration with Physical Security and IT Systems

OnSSI’s NVRs enable seamless integration with a wide array of organizational security and IT systems - access control, contact closure, video badging, fire panels, traffic loop detectors, emergency phones and others.

All entries through an access control system, or vehicle movements over a traffic loop detector, will be recorded and securely archived for future investigation. Exceptions, such as unauthorized entry, can trigger sending visual alerts to any client user on the local and remote network, for complete situation awareness.

Distributed Video Delivery Via Multiple Video Clients

Multiple IP video clients ensure users’ immediate access to video from all cameras in the correctional facility or from multiple facilities, over the local network (using NetGuard or NetGuard-EVS remote clients), using handheld cell phone and PDA video clients, or through OnSSI’s IE browser video client (no download or administrative rights required) - ideal for sharing video outside the facility. OnSSI’s NetSwitcher large-scale virtual matrix switch video wall management system enables monitoring and controlling cameras from multiple sites efficiently from a centralized control center, with unlimited monitors and up to 16 cameras per monitor.

Recordings can be stored at any location on the network for increased security and reliability, and accessed from any location on the network, upon strict authorization. Incidents can be investigated using the most advanced video investigation and content analysis tools, directly from the Video Clients.

Intelligent Viewing and Blank Screen Monitoring

Automated, on-event video delivery is enabled using OnSSI’s NetMatrix virtual matrix switch add-on to NetDVMS and NetDVR. Video of an event can be pushed, automatically or manually by another user, to any client’s monitor screen as a video pop-up. Blank Screen Monitoring allows for events-only viewing from a large number of cameras using a single monitor. With OnSSI’s Intelligent Viewing, events that might have been otherwise gone unnoticed would instantly appear on the security officer’s screen, with optional alarms and alerts. The officer could then send real time video to outside law enforcement agencies, or to another correctional facility, with just one click of a mouse.

Elimination of Surveillance Blind Spots

Many system designs provide for only one camera per inmate living area, creating substantial blind spots. OnSSI’s 100%-IP solution eliminates this limitation by allowing for an unlimited number of cameras throughout a facility using the existing network cabling infrastructure. Via PTZ cameras, security personnel can monitor inmate living areas, central intake, booking, and visiting areas that were previously hidden from view with conventional CCTV cameras. Areas where cabling is not available or impractical can be effectively monitored with OnSSI’s NVRs using wireless IP surveillance cameras.

Increased Protection Against Liability Suits

Over the years, correctional facilities have faced lawsuits for many millions of dollars in cases where assault or excessive force is alleged. In such cases, credible evidence is key. OnSSI’s NVRs provide high quality digital recordings which are time stamped with digital information and each frame is numbered, further retaining the integrity of evidence.

Advanced playback investigation features, including synchronous playback of all cameras, digital PTZ into recorded images and motion histogram-assisted access to events, enable correctional facilities to get a clear answer to the cause of any incident and institute procedures to avoid a re-occurrence in the future.
